“Triple Purim” in Ukraine: Third ‘Purim Campaign’ Under Fire

As Purim approaches, community rabbis and Chabad ’s emissaries in Ukraine are preparing for the third consecutive ‘Purim Campaign’ under the ongoing crisis. Initiated by JRNU, tens of thousands of Jews across the country will receive personal Mishloach Manot packages and will have the opportunity to fulfill all the holiday’s commandments.

Amid the third anniversary of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the Jewish communities and Chabad emissaries are currently preparing for the third ‘Purim Campaign’ under fire.

When the crisis broke out and masses fled the country, the rabbis and emissaries remained on the ground, despite the flames of battle, bringing the joy of Purim to the Jews of Ukraine who were forced to stay in their homes.

This year will be no different—three years later. While the world is preoccupied, FJC and Chabad-Ukraine’s JRNU network, are focused on final preparations for the grand ‘Purim Campaign.’

As per the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s directive and in keeping with tradition, the emissaries will ensure that tens of thousands of Jews across Ukraine fulfill all the mitzvot of Purim through a variety of vibrant and engaging programs designed for all ages—men, women, and children.

A special focus will be placed on the commandment of Mishloach Manot, with tens of thousands of Ukrainian Jews receiving throughout Purim personal Mishloach Manot packages from the Chabad emissaries and local Jewish community rabbis.

Each package includes a variety of pastries and sweets, along with a colorful grogger for the Megillah readings, as well as an elegant informational booklet detailing all the mitzvot of Purim.

“The messengers are now setting out urgently to every city in Ukraine, carrying tens of thousands of Mishloach Manot packages,” JRNU reported. “With G-d’s help, Ukrainian Jews will once again experience light and joy this Purim, thanks to the devoted emissaries, with heartfelt prayers for an end to the crisis and the establishment of peace in the country.”

“We have invited hundreds of people for the Megillah reading and Purim feast,” said Rabbi Nachum Ehrentreu. “We are preparing for a massive Mishloach Manot distribution, thanks to JRNU. Additionally, this year, the entire community is uniting under a single special group costume, with a well-planned production.”

In the Kryvyi Rih community, led by chief rabb and Chabad emissary Eliran Edri, Purim preparations are underway with a vibrant series of events engaging hundreds of local Jews.

In the capital of Kyiv, as per tradition, celebrations will be held for all age groups. “On Thursday, we will hold a major event for the entire community,” shared Rabbi Simcha Levenhartz, a Chabad emissary in the city. “On Friday morning, we will host a grand event for the school children, followed by another for the elderly. The celebrations will also continue after Shabbat with the entire Jewish community.”
