Russia prepares for visit of Israel’s Chief Rabbi

The news of the arrival of the distinguished guest, HaGaon Rabbi Kalman Meir Bar Shlita, Chief Rabbi of Israel and President of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, was received with great enthusiasm in Russia, after he accepted the invitation of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, HaGaon Rabbi Berel Lazar Shlita, to pay an official visit.

A special committee was established by the Jewish community management to properly prepare and coordinate between all institutions and communities who wish to be visited by the esteemed guest and be strengthened by his words and blessings.

Although the visit will only last three days, it will be packed with important events and visits, during which the distinguished guest will be able to witness firsthand the thousands of Jewish students learning in Torah institutions and hear the voice of tefila rising from dozens of shuls and Chabad Houses throughout the capital city,  operated by about a hundred Chabad emissaries in Moscow alone.

On erev shabbos, a special session will be held at the offices of the Chief Rabbinate of Russia, headed by Rabbi Lazar and with the participation of the Chief Rabbinate’s Dayanim and Rabbanim who  deal with crucial questions on yiddishkeit and kashrus, various Jewish inquiries, and a wide variety of activities to preserve tahara in the world’s largest country.

The guest will spend Shabbso Kodesh  Parshas Truma, Shkalim and Rosh Chodesh Adar in the main hall of the central “Marina Roshcha” shul, and large notices that have already been posted on behalf of the Gabbaim detailing  the series of sermons and lectures that will be held during Shabbos with the participation of hundreds of people.

A grand reception is planned, among others, by the philanthropist, Mr. German Zakharyev, President of the Caucasian Community in Russia, who will host a lavish banquet with important figures and  dignitaries of the community.

Russian Jews are confident that the guest’s visit will bring great strength and encouragement to all the Jewish communities that are constantly developing in the country, and the voice of the Torah is heard there with great pride.
