Host Registration Opens for Beloved Shabbos Tzuzamen
Anticipation is building as host registration opens for Shabbos Tzuzamen 5785, the annual Shabbaton experience hosted locally and celebrated globally by Yaldei Hashluchim worldwide. This year’s theme, עס גייט, עסט, שלאפט, א חסיד, highlights how the values of a Chossid shape every aspect of life.
In Metairie, Louisiana, Mrs. Chanie Nemes of Chabad Jewish Center, has hosted the boys’ Shabbos Tzuzamen three times, transforming her home into a lively, welcoming space filled with laughter, song, and connection. “The joy on their faces and the friendships they strengthen here are absolutely priceless,” she said. “It’s something they carry with them all year long. We can’t wait to host again—it’s as much a highlight for us as it is for the boys.”
Last year, 15 boys from Louisiana and nearby cities gathered in Metairie for a weekend filled with fun activities, inspiring nigunim, and farbrengens. By the end, bonds had formed that extended far beyond the event, giving each participant a sense of belonging and strength to carry into their Shlichus.
“It’s not just a fun Shabbaton; it’s a lifeline,” said Rabbi Yossi Elberg, assistant director of MyShliach at Merkos 302. “These young Shluchim often live far from their peers, Shabbos Tzuzamen shows them they’re part of a local and global family, all working toward the same mission.”
Each year, the MyShliach team at Merkos 302 coordinates simultaneous regional Shabbatons across the globe on a single Shabbos; Tzuzamen, ensuring even the most remote Shluchim can participate. Graciously hosted by local Shluchim families, last year, the program brought together 950 boys across 68 locations and 820 girls in 54 locations, each Shabbaton brimming with energy, warmth, and inspiration.
“Young Shluchim are the Rebbe’s special forces,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “These Shabbatons provide them with the encouragement and tools they need to thrive.”
This year’s theme invites participants to explore what it means to truly live as a Chossid—not just during moments of inspiration, but in the everyday rhythms of life. From the Dvar Torahs at meals to the games and group farbrengens, every part of the Shabbaton will reflect this idea.
“Living as a young Shliach is no small task,” Rabbi Mendy Shanowitz, director of MyShliach at Merkos 302. “Shabbos Tzuzamen reminds these children that they’re not alone in their mission. It gives them the strength and perspective to carry their values into every aspect of life.”
Each regional Shabbaton promises a full schedule of engaging activities, meaningful moments, and opportunities to connect. MyShliach provides dedicated support to ensure every Shliach has access to this transformative experience.
This year’s Shabbos Tzuzamen will take place on the following dates:
- Boys: Parshas Terumah, 30 Shvat (February 28–March 1)
- Girls: Parshas Tetzaveh, 7–8 Adar (March 7–8)
