A new brigade made up of ‘Chareidim’ has been launched in the IDF, and Chabad Chasidim are making up part of the first fifty recruits.

“Approximately fifty initial ultra-orthodox recruits have already been enlisted and will form the core of the first company in the brigade,” the IDF wrote in a statement Sunday. “Additionally, by the end of the day, approximately 100 additional ultra-orthodox people will be enlisted for reserve service from the ultra-orthodox sector.”

Images released by the IDF show the recruits with Yechi Yarmulkas proudly represented.

According to the IDF, the recruits will begin six months of infantry training at Rifleman 07 level, after which they will become part of the brigade’s first reserves company. Additionally, during the month, several supplementary enlistment rounds will take place, and recruits from these rounds will join the ongoing basic training process.

“The two companies enlisted today mark the initial step in establishing the ultra-orthodox brigade, a significant milestone in expanding the service of the ultra-orthodox sector in the IDF, particularly in light of the operational needs arising from the demands of the war,” the IDF noted.

In preparation for the brigade’s establishment, an extensive preparation process was undertaken, which included identifying and training personnel, adapting policies, renovating the training base, and adjusting it to accommodate the ultra-orthodox way of life. Reports indicate that all food will be fully Kosher and other accommodations made.
