Along with about 75 residents of the village.
The officials spoke about the importance of chanukah and spreading the light.
Congressman Lawler shared that he is proud to be the voice of sanity in Washington in an environment that has so much insanity and continue to be a voice for the Jewish people in Israel and around the world in these challenging times.
Assemblyman Elect Wieder shared that for thousands of years we lit the Menorah to commemorate the miracle of Chanukah and that the Lubavitcher rebbe took it to the next level by having public menorah lightings including on government property which gather the communities together and spread the light worldwide.
Supervisor Specht shared that The menorah symbolizes the Jewish people’s existence from thousands of years ago until now and reminds us that thousands of years ago, the most powerful empires of the world wanted the Jewish people to disappear and give up their religion and their culture and vanish as Jews. And today these empires are gone, and the Jewish people are stronger than ever.
Haverstraw supervisor Philips concluded with wishes to the community.
