The block of President Street between Brooklyn and New York Ave in Crown Heights now officially has a new name, “Lubavitcher Rebbe Way.”
The new name was unanimously voted through the NYC Council on Thursday with a special tribute to the Rebbe being given by Crown Heights Councilwoman Crystal Hudson.
“Today, the @NYCCouncil officially named President Street, located between Brooklyn and New York Avenues, as “Lubavitcher Rebbe Way,” Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, a Crown Heights activist and person instrumental in passing the bill through the council wrote on X. “This is the block where the Rebbe lived during his leadership and where his home remains as a sacred place of prayer and inspiration.”
Rabbi Yaacov Behrman gave the invocation at the vote, quoting the Rebbe and highlighting the unity of all people living in New York City.
