Why I Give My Maaser to KSCVK
In 1999, I was still a brand new BT in my 20s, and freshly engaged. With no parental support and my fiance a ger, I had no idea how we were going to pay for a wedding. A friend who was recently married told me, “Don’t worry, Devorah Benjamin from KSCVK will help you.” And she did. She made us a beautiful wedding on a budget, helped us from start to finish, down to being our last minute unterfuherers with her husband Rabbi Shmuel a”h. I remember asking that same friend, “How does Devorah pay for everything? And she told me, you give Devorah and KSCVK your maaser in return to help the next generation of kallahs”
And for over 25 years, Devorah Benjamin and KSCVK have been making hundreds weddings – whether you know it or not, Devorah has been helping the families and members of our community make beautiful, respectable chasunahs. I personally know of dozens of couples she helped. As my generation starts to marry off our own children, we know that Devorah and KSCVK will be there. But that can only happen if our community, the community of Crown Heights, are there for Devorah and KSCVK. It’s time for us to step up and give. Every donation, from small to large makes a difference.
Devorah spends her precious “free time” sitting on Kingston Avenue collecting to pay for our community’s Chasunahs. No one is asking you to sit out in the cold and collect, but you can dig down deep into your pocket and donate towards another generation of happy Chossons and Kallahs – just like the name says, “Keren Simchas Chosson v’Kallah.”

Perhaps they can receive more donations if they accept Zelle, Paypal or Cash app? Do those have too many overhead costs?
