New Shluchim Appointed to West Adam, Los Angeles
Rabbi Michoel and Hindy Zajac and their son Moshe and daughter Zelda have been appointed as new Shluchim to West Adams, Los Angeles.
West Adams, a historic neighborhood in Los Angeles, offers a unique blend of cultural vibrancy and architectural charm. It is renowned for its early 20th-century Craftsman and Victorian homes, many preserved as historic landmarks. West Adams thrives as a historic yet modern urban destination with its welcoming community, architectural beauty, and sunny Southern California climate.
100 years ago, in 1925, the first Shul and Talmud Torah was established in West Adams. A few years later in 1938, the Kehila, led by Rabbi Dolgin A”H, continued to grow and thrive, eventually expanding to today’s Beth Jacob Congregation (Beverly Hills) – the largest Shul in the western United States.
Over the past hundred years, the neighborhood has gone through several transitions. Migration of the Jewish population to Beverly Hills, La Brea, and Pico, left the once Yiddish-speaking shtetel, devoid of its Jewish presence. Until now!
Recent developments and investments to “merchandise” this inner-city neighborhood, have resulted in a new wave of younger families moving in, new restaurants, and high street stores opening.
Rabbi Michoel Zajac, raised on Shlichus in New Zealand, was educated in Chabad yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel, New York, and London. He engaged in deep Torah study, personal development, and mentoring programs. His Jewish outreach experiences spanned the globe, from Central London to Switzerland, Brazil, and Mexico.
Hindy Zajac (née Geisinsky), raised in Cedarhurst, NY, was actively involved in her family’s Chabad house from a young age. She taught Hebrew school, connected with local families, and was involved with community events. As a skilled educator and camp director, Hindy has taught in several leading schools and camps in New York and California.
Together with their two children, Moshe and Zelda, the Zajacs aim to create a warm, welcoming community and Chabad center with open doors for every Jew. Through your partnership, they will facilitate Jewish education, holidays, and life cycle celebrations, creating a vibrant and inclusive hub for the West Adams Jewish community.
Join Michoel, Hindy, Moshe, and Zelda in shaping West Adams’s Jewish future. Support their mission and help build a thriving community that inspires connection, learning, and joy!
