Days after the loss of one of their own, and amid rising antisemitism and war in Israel, thousands of rabbis pose in a show of Jewish confidence, pride and resilience. 

An iconic New York tradition, thousands of Hasidic rabbis–clad in traditional garb–will pose together for a massive portrait. The photo carries added meaning this year as Rabbi Zvi Kogan,  Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in the UAE, will be absent with the photo being taken less than a week after his kidnapping and murder in Dubai. 

“After a year of tremendous challenges, this conference unites the leaders who stand on the frontlines of the global Jewish community,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, who has stepped into his late father, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, role as director of the conference. “From the war zones of Ukraine and Israel to rising antisemitism worldwide, Shluchim bring unwavering support and hope to every individual, ensuring no one is left behind. This weekend renews their strength and mission to serve with even greater impact.”

The photo is not only a massive display of Jewish pride, it also sends a message of resilience, confidence and strength to Jewish communities around the globe. It’s a high-energy moment that will certainly have somber notes this year, and an opportunity to sense the global impact of Chabad-Lubavitch’s work
