NCFJE Announces Guest of Honor for Annual Awards Dinner
Dr. Steven and Mrs. Hedy Rubel will be Guests of Honor at the NCFJE’s Annual Awards Dinner. The black tie event, taking place on Sunday, November 24th, at the Edison Hotel Ballroom, will honor the Rubels for their decades of service to the Jewish community and support of the NCFJE.
Dr. Rubel’s connection to NCFJE goes back to his early years in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, where he grew up in the presence of the renowned chossid and long-time Vice-President of NCFJE, Rabbi J.J. Hecht. Inspired by Rabbi Hecht’s fiery personality, Dr. Rubel developed a lasting bond with the Hecht family and NCFJE. While building 40 years of medical practice in the fields of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Rubel served on the board of NCFJE, eventually elected as President.
Mrs. Hedy Rubel is a licensed clinical social worker and registered play therapist, has also dedicated her career to supporting mental health and family welfare. With over 35 years in private practice and school settings, she works with children and adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.
“The Rubels have been some of the closest friends of the NCFJE family,” shared Rabbi Shea Hecht, Chairman of NCFJE. “Steven’s bond with the Hecht family and our organization started with my father, obm, and has only grown closer over the years. Steven and Hedy have both impacted lives the lives of others in very special ways. They’re due for very long-deserved recognition at our Dinner, and having them as Guests of Honor is really an honor for the NCFJE.”
The NCFJE Annual Awards Dinner will highlight the Rubels’ contributions, as well as those whose leadership and philanthropy make a more vibrant Jewish community.
