REINSTATED: Chabad.org Media Director Locked Out of X, Reinstated After Outcry
by CrownHeights.info
Update: Rabbi Motti Seligson’s account has been reinstated. See update from Rabbi Seligson below:
It’s everything that X claims it’s against, it’s hypocritical.
Rabbi Motti Seligson, the media director at Chabad.org, has been locked out of his X account over a post about the pogrom that swept the streets of Amsterdam this past week.
“For posting about stopping violence, @mottiseligson reports that he has been suspended by @X as if he were promoting it,” Rabbi Yaakov Menken, the managing director for the Coalition for Jewish Values wrote. “@elonmusk this is not ok, and content like this is your platform at its best. Please fix.”
Rabbi Seligson’s account, while still up and viewable on X, has been locked, meaning he is now unable to post additional content and the “offensive” post is hidden.
Surprisingly, Rabbi Seligson’s most recent claim to fame was his joining then Presidential Candidate Donald Trump on his visit to the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel in Cambria Heights, Queens.
With the lack of actual offense in the “offensive” post and the fact that Rabbi Seligson is a well known figure in the Jewish media, the locking of the account is exceptionally surprising.
According to VIN, Seligson appealed the decision, but was informed by the platform that the support team upheld the initial decision to lock his account.
