A Soul-Stirring Night of Selichot in Moscow

Numerous Selichot minyans were held at midnight on Motzei Shabbat in Moscow, the capital of Russia.

Accompanied by a large group of approximately one hundred supporters and associates, Russia’s Chief Rabbi, HaGaon Rabbi Berel Lazar, traveled to participate in the Shabbat of Selichot at the Rebbe of Lubavitch’s court in New York.

Photographer Levi Nazerov presents a gallery of images from the Selichot service at the central “Marina Roshcha” synagogue in the heart of Moscow, where hundreds of Jews gathered for a Chassidic gathering in preparation for the Selichot. At precisely midnight, the Selichot were recited with great fervor and emotion, as the baal koreh, Rabbi Eliezer Mordechai Koenig, led the congregation in a heartfelt recitation of Selichot that lasted for an hour.
