Summer Special: Shabbaton Weekend Inspires Belarusian Youth
More than forty Jewish teenagers from across Belarus recently participated in a special off-schedule Shabbaton conducted and planned by EnerJew, FJC’s Jewish youth movement across the FSU, in conjunction with the local Jewish community of Bobruisk.
“The inspiring Shabbaton,” explains the Chief Rabbi of Bobruisk, Shaul Chababo, “combined wonderful experiences for both body and soul. Social games, lavish meals, pampering accommodations, Jewish heritage classes, vibrant lectures, tours, and attractions. The teenagers, arriving from several cities across Belarus, returned home content and eager to strengthen their commitment to their Jewish roots and heritage.”
Seven professional EnerJew staff members and charismatic young rabbis accompanied the 3-day weekend, which was organized spontaneously after the end of the seasonal activity. The goal was to boost the teenagers’ morale during tense times.
