New Excel Course Empowers Shluchim to Organize Their Shlichus Operations

The New Shliach Desk at Merkos 302 has unveiled an enhanced Excel course for shluchim, to meet the evolving needs of Chabad operations.

Piloted in 2022 by long-time Excel teacher Yakir Havin, the course has undergone a complete overhaul. Havin, who is known for his ability to make Excel accessible to diverse audiences, has revamped the curriculum based on feedback from past participants and conversations with shluchim across the globe about their daily organizational challenges.

The rewritten course covers essential Excel skills that everyone can and should know, as well as in-depth shlichus tutorials on using Excel for fundraising, donor management, email lists, event planning, event budgeting, and task management.”

A key change this year is the shift to a self-paced format. Participants can now access the three-part online course through Google Classroom. This course style allows them to learn at their own convenience by watching short, digestible videos, and following along with spreadsheet exercises and slideshows. This flexibility is crucial for busy shluchim juggling multiple responsibilities.

“Shluchim are some of the busiest people around, serving their communities at all times of the day,” says Havin. “Spreadsheets are used for many common tasks, and without them things can feel messy and disorganized. This course aims to enable shluchim to do necessary computer work in an efficient way.”

With its comprehensive content, flexible format, and focus on real-world Chabad House needs, this year’s Excel course is a significant step toward empowering shluchim with the digital tools they need to enhance their important work.

An early bird special of $199 is available until 15 Av / August 19. Interested participants can register at learnwithyakir.com/shluchim.
