Camp L’man Achai Overnight Adventure and Kids Go Shopping for Kosher

Weeks two and three of Camp L’man Achai were filled with fun, excitement, learning, and a sense of Jewish pride. On Sunday night, the entire camp had an overnight trip! The campers and staff went out a few hours before dark to collect wood in the forest, and set up camp. Throughout the night, they shared stories, discuss what it means to be Jewish, and spent hours singing and farbrenging. The next day, the staff enjoyed a gourmet breakfast and appreciation event.

Shiva Asar B’Tammuz arrived, a fast day, giving many campers over bar mitzvah age the chance to fast for the first time. Despite the difficulty, they were proud of reaching this milestone, and of course enjoyed the delicious break-fast.

On Thursday, the younger division went to a trampoline park. They had a blast jumping, laser tag, wall climbing, and many other activities. Afterward, the kids visited a kosher supermarket, for many their first time in such a store, exploring thousands of kosher products. The staff had prepared a kosher scavenger hunt.

Friday provided a wonderful opportunity for the kids to bake their own challah, and preparing for Shabbat. Shabbat, as always, was full of excitement, farbrengens, and lots of song and dance. There was also a TBH session, with all the campers learning a lot of Torah by heart.

The last Sunday of the first session was filled with excitement as the kids participated in playoffs and championships. The entire camp then headed to the forest for an exhilarating game of capture the flag, enjoying the thrill of running, hiding, and sneaking up on the other team. The last night of the first session was spent farbrenging and celebrating with the staff, as they eagerly looked forward to the second session.
