Registration Now Open for Eightieth Yom Hilulah

The 80th Yom Hilulah of the Rebbe’s father Harav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, on Shabbos Eikev—Chof Av, is quickly approaching.

For many years, it was nearly impossible to visit his resting place, let alone stay there overnight, especially on Shabbos. But since the establishment of a Chabad House under the leadership of Rabbi Yeshaya Elazar Cohen, the area now has a shul, mikvah, and the Ohel and its surroundings are under regular maintenance.

In a farbrengen on Shabbos Chof Av 5743 (1983), the Rebbe said: “The overall concept of hafotzas hamayanos is connected with the yahrzeit. This is because the Baal Hayahrtzeit sacrificed his life to disseminate Chassidus, to the extent that he was exiled and passed away in exile, and to this day his resting place remains ‘behind the Iron Curtain.’ Despite this, regarding his soul, it ascends from level to level, particularly on this yahrzeit, which marks the beginning of the 40th year since his passing.”

Ahead of the 40th anniversary of Chof Av, a special letter was sent by the Rebbe’s secretariat to numerous rabbis, Shluchim, and activists. In this Michtav Klali-Prati, the Rebbe added in his holy handwriting:

“The Shabbos following 15 Av is Chof Av, the yahrzeit of my father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Baruch Schneur, of blessed memory – forty years.

“And I have the great duty and privilege to propose and request etc. – to study his teachings at the farbrengen and to donate on this day l’ilui nishmaso, as he sacrificed his life to spread Judaism among Jews ‘behind the Iron Curtain,’ for which he was imprisoned, exiled, and passed away in exile, where he is buried. May his merit protect us and all of Israel.”

This year, the hospitality program will start on Thursday, 18 Av, and continue until Sunday, 21 Av. It will include an inspiring Shabbos with shiurim in Chassidus and in the Torah of Reb Levik, and farbrengens with prominent Rabbonim, Mashpiim, and Anash from around the world.

A dedicated website has been created for registration for free hospitality, available to all attendees from around the world. It is also possible to book subsidized hotel rooms at the luxurious Rixos Hotel, reserved entirely for the guests of the 80th yahrzeit.

After booking flights (direct or with layovers) and hotel rooms, guests will enjoy comprehensive hospitality services, including airport transportation, transportation between the hotel and the Ohel, daily meals at the hotel, Shabbos meals, and shuttle services to key event locations during the yahrzeit.

The program is designed for both men and women, with separate lectures, talks, and farbrengens in different sections of the hotel.

At the entrance road to the Ohel, air-conditioned tents will be available for learning, davening, and the writing of Panim. Complimentary hot and cold drinks, snacks, fruits, and sandwiches will be provided around the clock.

The central event will be held at the Ohel on Friday after Shacharis, at 10:30 AM local time, including Tehillim, niggunim and a Pan Klali on behalf of all Anash and Shluchim. This event will be broadcast live worldwide.

All Shabbos meals, study sessions, and farbrengens will take place at the luxurious Rixos Hotel in central Alma Ata, where guests can book rooms at a 50% discount.
