A daily email from the Renewal organization, which facilitates kidney donations, had some surprising news. A Chabad Shliach took the day of Gimmel Tammuz this year to donate a kidney to another Jew.

“Today’s donor is a 36-year-old father of 7 who grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina,” Renewal wrote. “As he became affiliated with Chabad and an important part of his life has become spreading spirituality and kindness to others.”

Rabbi Yossi Zeidman, a Shliach of the Rebbe and Melamud in Morristown, New Jersey, spoke in a video clip about his special opportunity to help a fellow Jew.

“It is just another form of impacting the world, helping our long galus come to an end by bringing Mashiach closer”, Yossi said. “Today, the 3rd day of Tammuz is the 30th yartzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. On this auspicious day, 30 years later, the mission continues as the Rebbe’s impact is still felt and growing exponentially throughout the world by inspiring people to continue in his ways.”

The recipient of Yossi’s kidney is an exceptionally nice individual and a retired cardiologist from New City, New York. In his capacity as a doctor, he had spent many decades walking the halls of Columbia Hospital in New York City with a mission to help his patients. Arriving at Columbia Hospital this morning, he was being admitted as the patient: Possibly Hashem’s way of paying him back for the good that he has done throughout his career by giving him back a life full of vitality, vigor and energy.
