Sergeant Ilan Cohen HY”D, Close To Chabad and Made The Ultimate Sacrifice

Chabad on Campus is devasted to hear of the passing of five IDF soldiers, among them Sergeant Ilan Cohen of blessed memory.

Ilan studied at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was close with Chabad Rabbi Mendi Mizrahi from Temple Or Mizrah. He also shared mutual friends with Chabad Rabbi Daniel Zelione.

Ilan’s dream was to move to Israel, learn in Yeshiva, and join the IDF.

When Rabbi Zelione heard about this, he arranged for Ilan to receive a grant from Chabad on Campus to learn in Yeshiva.

Ilan joined Yeshivas Migdal Ha’Emek in December of 2021. He joined the IDF a few months before October 7th and shortly after, sacrificed his life for the land of Israel and the Jewish people.

As the Lubavitcher Rebbe said of our brave IDF soldiers, “Great is the merit of those who protect Israel and our nation who dwells there.”

Please do a good deed in Ilan’s memory and the memory of the soldiers who died today.
