When An OU Rabbi Found His Flight Diverted, A Shliach Was There To Help

Rabbi Avrohom Stone, a Senior OU Rabbinic Field Representative, found his flight to Miami on Erev Pesach diverted to Fort Myers, Florida. A crisis averted with the help of the Shluchim to Fort Myers.

As well as being a Senior Rabbinic Field Representative for OU, Rabbi Stone is the Rabbi at Congregation Bnei Torah West Orange NJ and was on his way to Miami on American Airlines flight 1692 when the flight was diverted to Fort Myers FL do to weather conditions in Miami.

Rabbi Stone reached out to Shliach Rabbi Mendy Kasowicz of his hometown West Orange, New Jersey who put him in touch with Rabbi Yitzchok & Meir Simcha Minkowicz of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida. With their help, first class accommodations were arranged with the Sedorim, all day meals, and Pesach provisions. 

Rabbi Stone, who holds a high position in Kashrus with the OU, came into the Chabad House’s kitchen to inspect the food that was were preparing for the Seder and was very impressed with the high level of Kashrus and the cleanliness of all the produce. 

Rabbi Stone shared many Divrei Torah with the community held an in depth’s discussion on the Daf Yomi he was learning with Rabbi Minkowicz. 

Rabbi Stone gave a special thanks to Rabbi Minkowicz and Chabad for hosting him over Yom Tov.
