Lubavitch Shul In Pomona Heights, Chassidim 110, Completely Destroyed In Early Morning Blaze
by Monsey.info
An early morning blaze tore through Chassidim 110, a predominantly Lubavitch Shul in Pomona Heights Wednesday, leaving the Shul a smoking ruin, but thankfully without injuries.
The shul, located at 34 North Ridge Road at the intersection of North Ridge and Overlook Road, had previously been the home of the late Dr. Zev Zelenko OBM, with the home repurposed for a Shul after he relocated.
The early morning fire sparked around 5:30am, according to reports, with the fast moving blaze quickly engulfing the entire structure.. Firefighters from local stations battled the blaze and extinguished it fairly quickly, but the Shul was already burned to the ground.
Unverified reports claim that the fire began when a propane tank exploded near the shul.
North Rockland Safety Patrol was on scene along with emergency services providing food and drinks to the first responders.
The Shuls Sifrei Torah, locked inside a fireproof safe, have yet to be retrieved as the safe has fallen into the basement and the structure still a fire scene.
With Pesach quickly approaching, a fundraiser has been established to help the shul get through Pesach, and rebuild. Top donate, click here.
