MESIRA: FDNY Complaint Filed Against 770 For Blocked Exits, Prompts Surprise Inspection

by CrownHeights.info

Lubavitchers in 770 Eastern Parkway, the Headquarters of Chabad, were shocked Wednesday evening when inspectors from the FDNY and Department of Buildings descended on the Shul saying that a complaint had been filed against the building.

The anonymous complaint filed with NYC was released to the public Thursday with the complaint alleging that emergency exits in the building were blocked.

The FDNY inspectors descended on 770, and according to the DOB website, discovered no violations.

According to people familiar with the incident, the complaint was filed by a Lubavitcher unhappy with the way in which 770 is being run, a tactic used as well in previous years.

In December of 2022 another complaint had been filed, one in which the city published the contents of the complaint.

“Bh The location 770 eastern parkway, especially the building to the left of it(when facing it) at the corner of Kingston and eastern parkway, 11213 Brooklyn, has hundreds, if not thousands, of people gathered, often time packed like sardines,” the 2022 complaint said. “If there was a fire gd forbid almost no one would be able to get out. Sometimes they even lock the emergency exits from the inside so there’s only one exit with thousands of people. I have never seen a place of assembly sign anywhere in or near it.”

In that 2022 case, the same as in the case this week, the complaint was closed as being unfounded after an in person inspection.

No violations? 770! Is a death trap. If there really was a fire or a bomb threat I can’t imagine the scenario. I got trampled on a Yom Kippur yiskor by our wonderful tishrei guests. It’s the Rebbe’s house. Tear it down before it becomes place of destruction

People, Before you start imagining that someone complained about 770 and who it might be…CHILL!

After all, throughout the USA there have been hundreds of swatting incidents targeting Jewish non-profits (- deceiving an emergency service into sending a police or emergency service response team to an organization’s address). These originated from overseas.

There is no reason not to assume that the
