Chanukah Rally for Light In Sydney, Australia
In Light of the Darkness that has permeated the Jewish global community following the terrible tragedy of 7th Oct, and the spreading of hatred and darkness across the globe, CBDChabad Sydney took it upon themselves to increase in spreading more light this Chanukah by hosting four public communal events and co-hosting one, across the City of Sydney and Inner East.
Climaxing with a special Rally for Light in Hyde Park, the location so often used as a rally point for rallies of a different sort.
Even the 40 degree weather, being the hottest day of year, still didn’t stop attendees from coming. The formal addresses were given by Rabbi Danny Yaffe; Director of CBDChabad Sydney, and by CEO of the Jewish National Fund Australia, Mr Doron Lazerus.
Prayers were recited for the safe return of hostages, protection for the soldiers, safety of Eretz Yisroel as well as a prayer for clarity of guidance for the Government of Australia, its public servants, and for protection of its armed forces, followed by a translation by Co-Director Rebbetzin Sara-Tova Yaffe.
In the theme of light, the event climaxed with a Chanukah Light show followed by an inspirational repertoire of songs, sung by international Cantor, Mordachai Levin.
May the light of Chanukah permeate and eradicate darkness in all corners!
The event was co-hosted by: CBDChabad Sydney, JNF Australia, Chabad Double Bay, The Central Synagogue, Newtown Synagogue, Chabad of Bellevue Hill and Tzemach Tzedek Community Centre.
