Inverrary Menorah Parade Takes Over South Florida
On the 6th night of Chanukah approximately thirty-five cars took to the streets of South Florida to parade the light of Chanukah from Chabad of Inverrary to the South Florida Chanukah Festival at Hardrock Casino.
Parade coordinators Rabbi Chaim and Bassy Rosenstein felt that in light of the war in Israel and all of the antisemitic protests happening across the globe, the Parade this year needed to be a statement of Jewish pride and resolve.
With assistance from Rabbi Levi and Estie Chanowitz of Chabad of Inverrary, and Mr. Zalman Myer-smith Director of Security at Chabad of South Florida, they coordinated that the Broward Sheriff’s Office should escort the Parade, and boy did they!
Six Sheriffs were reserved for the parade, but in true Chanukah fashion eight Sherrifs showed up. The Sheriff’s escorted the parade through local streets and then completely closed the southbound lanes of Florida turnpike, I-595, and I-95 allowing non parade drivers to follow behind the parade but not to pass it. The Pirsumei Nisa to the 1000+ cars that saw the parade (from both Northbound and Southbound lanes) was incredible.
While the parade was on the highway, one of the escorting Sheriff’s called Rabbi Chaim Rosenstein to tell him “I am so proud to be doing this parade with you guys”.
Many of the participants told Rabbi Rosenstein that “this was the most memorable Chanukah parade ever”.
Special thank you to:
Rabbi Aron Lieberman and
Rabbi Levi & Estie Chanowitz of Chabad Of Inverrary.
