Fifth Areivim Collection Raises Total to $2.65 Million

For the fifth time in just six months AreivimUSA is paying out to a Chabad family from that has lost a parent.

“It is with great pain that we notify you of the untimely Petirah of an Areivim USA member leaving behind a widow and four orphans R”L,” a notice from Areivim said. “Therefore, Areivim USA members are requested to donate in the month of December”.

The notice identified Rav Mordechai Kanelsky, as the rav that will oversee the funds.

This recent collection brings the total amount distributed to Lubavitch families in just six months to $2.65 million.

Areivim USA was established in 2009 with the purpose of providing support to widows and orphans while maintaining their dignity. 

Areivim members make micro-contributions in the event of another member’s passing. The collective amount provides $150,000 per orphan.

In recent years Areivim has made a concentrated effort to register Lubavitcher families as well as Shluchim worldwide.

The Crown Heights Beis Din has released a letter of support for the Areivim program. A free translation of the letter reads “We are aware of the Areivim program that supports orphans and widows in an honorable way. “Yasher Koach” to the organizers and all those that participate.
