BDE: Rabbi Shalom-Ber Ganzburg, 86, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Shalom-Ber Ganzburg OBM, a Mashbak of the Rebbe tasked with upkeeping the Rebbe’s Room in 770. He passed away on Wednesday, the 17th of Cheshvan, 5784.

He was 86 years old.

Rabbi Ganzburg was the Mashbak in in charge of the Rebbe’s room in 770 for over 40 years and was also privileged to live in the Rebbe’s home for several years.

Born to Rabbi Shneor Zalman and his mother Martha Batsheva nee Karasik Ganzburg, Shalom-Ber began his time as a meshamish helping on the second floor of the home where the Frierdiker Rebbe lived. While working there his dedication was noticed by the Rebbetzin who asked that he help in their house as well. Following the passing of Rebbetzin Nechama Dina she began working exclusively at the Rebbe’s House.

He is survived by his children Levi Yitzchak and Chanie.

He is also survived by his siblings; Mrs. Chaya Sarah Zarchi, Mrs. Rivkie Majeski, Reb Mendel Ganzburg, and Reb Itche Ganzburg.

He was predeceased by his brother Reb Yankel Ganzburg OBM.

The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday, passing by 770 at approximately 1:00pm with Kevurah at the Old Montefiore Cemetery at approximately 2:00pm.

    A true Story, in 2008 I got seriously ill, I asked Rabbi Ganzburg if I could go privately into The Rebbe’s room, he said come back at 9:00pm when nobody is around and opened the Rebbe’s door and room for me so I could pray privately, kalman Leib says G-D bless you and a elevation for his soul!!!!
