JEM: In the Operating Room, The Rebbe on Conflict — Beirut, 1982

After years of cross-border raids by PLO terrorists and Israeli air force responses, on June 6, 1982, the IDF launched an invasion of Lebanon.

By June 14, Beirut, home to some 14,000 PLO terrorist fighters, was under siege, with the terrorists completely in their vice.

By August, Israel, feeling pressured by internationally-brokered negotiations, agreed to allow the terrorists safe passage to comfortable home-bases — hostile nations across the middle east and Africa.

Throughout the Lebanon War, the Rebbe warned repeatedly, that Israel was in danger of repeating the same strategic mistakes it had made so many times previously.
