Marshall B. Grossman, A Lawyer Who Won A Lawsuit Against Russia Over Captive Sefarim Passes Away

by CrownHeights.info

A well known lawyer with a lesser known tie to Chabad, Marshall B. Grossman, has passed away at the age of 84.

Grossman, a well-respected Los Angeles power lawyer, was one of the major players behind a judgment won for Agudas Chasidei Chabad against the Russian Federation in an attempt to recover Sefarim and other ksavim seized during the Bolshevik Revolution and World War II.

During his 55-year career, Grossman represented many famous clients including Tommy Hilfiger, Larry King, Apple Computer, and Blockbuster in myriad legal matters.

Born on March 24, 1939, in Omaha, NE, Grossman moved to L.A. as a child. He graduated from USC Law School in 1964 and litigated California’s first successful consumer class action lawsuit.

He was listed for more than a quarter-century as a leading lawyer in Bet-the-Company Litigation in The Best Lawyers in America, been top ranked by Chambers Global and Chambers USA, and made the Daily Journal list of the 100 most influential lawyers in California.

Grossman is survived by his wife, Marlene; a daughter and son; and several grandchildren.
