Father and Son Complete Printing of the Tanya in Namibia, Their Third Country In Africa

by CrownHeights.info

A father and son duo on a mission in southern Africa made a Chazaka, completing the printing of Tanya in Namibia, the third country to see the printing of Tanya for the first time this summer.

Yanky Rubin and his son Zalman, from North Miami Beach, FL, made their first two stops in Botswana and Zambia, two neighboring countries on the southern portion of Africa, with the plan of printing of the Tanya in the two countries for the first time.

After completing the printing in both countries, and making some stops for Hafatzas Hatorah, they flew from Zambia to the capital of Namibia, the city of Windhoek. From there they took a car on a four and a half hour drive to Swakopmund, where they met up with a local Chabad Rabbi with whom they partnered in the printing.

Rabbi Yosef Rahimi, the Chabad Rabbi in Namibia, had made the arrangements for the Tanya printing, preparing two locations, one in Swakopmund and another in Walvis Bay to print.

Walvis Bay:

Namibia, which has never had a Tanya printed before, has a tiny Jewish community, but that did not stop the Rubin’s from doing Mivtzoim. Following the printing of the Tanya, they visited a local Jew at his business and blew Shofar for him.

This is not the first trip oversees Yanky Rubin has made to print Tanya the Tanya, as he and his friend Mendy Lieberman traveled to Baghdad, Iraq, and Kuwait, where they printed the Tanya for the first time. Due to the nature of those countries, the operation was done in secret and reported only after the duo had left the country.

This time in Africa, the printing was done without secrecy, but the milestones were just as momentous.
