Tanya’s Printed In Two African Countries, Some of the Last Places In The World To Print Their Own Tanya’s

by CrownHeights.info

Two of the last countries in the world to have Tanya’s printed can now be checked off the list as a father and son duo traveled to the far-flung locations to print the Tanya’s according to the Rebbe’s Horaa.

Yanky Rubin and his son Zalman, from North Miami Beach, FL, set off to the two African countries with the plan of printing the Tanya’s in the two countries this summer, after having registered the locations and receiving permission to print.

The countries of Zambia and Botswana, located in Southern Africa, border each other with a single tiny location, and despite being generally close to South Africa, have truly tiny Jewish communities. Zambia has a lone Chabad Center in the city of Lusaka, while Botswana has none at all.

When the Rubin’s made their trip, they decided to print the Tanya in Zambia in a printer located in the border town of Victoria Falls, located at the tiny border between Zambia and Botswana. After printing, the Rubins traveled to Livingstone nearby, where they visited the local Jewish museum and placed a newly printed Tanya with other Jewish items on display at the museum.

In Botswana, the pair traveled to Safari Chobe National Park, where they worked with a printer to print the first Tanya Editions printed in Botswana.

This is not the first Tanya printed by Yanky in far-flung locations, as he and his friend Mendy Lieberman traveled to Baghdad, Iraq, and Kuwait, where they printed the Tanya for the first time. Due to the nature of those countries, the operation was done in secret and reported only after the duo had left the country.

This time in Africa, the printing was done without secrecy, but the milestones were just as momentous.
