Moshe Reuven is Now the Voice of Orthodoxy for the Grammys

Chasidic Alternative Hip Hop Artist, Moshe Reuven, becomes one of the few, if not, the only Orthodox Jew to be a member of the Recording Academy.

“I’d like to thank the Heavenly Academy.” He jestingly posts this morning upon announcing the good news on his instagram of nearly 2 Million Followers.

This news comes shortly after stories all over Jewish news outlets pushed a petition for the Grammy’s to receive more jewish representation. Although that list was mainly vying for a Jewish music section, having one of our peoples’ rising stars become a member is definitely a sign of progress.

Moshe Reuven, who recently signed to Create Music Group – a record label that boasts a lineup of today’s top artists, led Moshe to being mentioned by The Jerusalem Post, The Jewish Journal and various others as one of four Orthodox Jews to have signed to one of the world’s leading record labels.

His career took off with the release of his debut single, You Are Not Alone, which managed to chart in 5 countries including reaching a Billboard Chart in America.

Perhaps this is just the beginning of Orthodox Judaism finding more representation in not just the Grammys but in today’s culture as a whole. We have been seeing quite a few cases of Jewish music being appreciated beyond the religious community the past few years.
