BDE: R’ Aharon Gitchel, 79, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of R’ Aharon Gitchel OBM, devoted chossid, longtime Crown Heights handyman and tree arborist. He passed away Wednesday night, the 8th of Nissan, 5783 following a brief illness.

Aharon was a dedicated to the Rebbe, to chassidus, and to lived with Moshiach. Aharon served as the leader of the Crown Heights volunteer Patrol in the days following the Crown Heights riots. He was known for his gentle and humble spirit and his willingness to help anyone.

He passed away at age 79, just four days before his 80th birthday.

He is survived by his wife Zahava Harary, his son Yehoshua and daughter Shulamit, his sister Carol Gitchel and his brother William Gitchel and family.

The levaya will take place Friday, passing by 770 at approximately 9:45am, and will continue at approximately 12:00pm at Schwartz Brothers Memorial Chapels 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. The kevurah will be in Queens.
