New Chabad Yishuv Approved In The Northern Negev

After nine years of work, countless ups and downs, Ohr Chabad, a new Chabad Yishuv in the Northern Negev, has been approved to become a reality.

“Meetings with four consecutive Housing Ministers, huge miracles from God, and help from so many amazing people… The dream is finally in sight,” wrote Bruria Efune in a jubilant social media post.

The Ohr Chabad community will be located on a hilltop in the Northern Negev, inside the beautiful Yatir forest. Complete with state-of-the-art hotel that will welcome people from all over the world to experience chassidic wisdom come to life, the Ohr Chabad Yishuv will provide a vibrant home along the values of Chabad Chassidus.

At a meeting Sunday night, just as Tubishvat began, the Israeli Minister of Housing, his staff, and relevant bodies approved a plan to speed up the development of the Yishuv.

“In the coming months our group of 30 incredible families will move into a prefab neighborhood to supervise construction and shape the warm community atmosphere,” Efune said. “We are grateful to so many people who helped us along the way, from the very beginning until now, especially OR Movement who guided us through every challenge and never gave up.”
