Tu B’Shvat Celebrated at Orange County Chabad’s Women’s Circle

“Succulents and Sangrias” was the theme for Chabad’s celebration of the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shvat (literally, the 15th day of the month of Shevat on the Jewish calendar), also known as the Jewish “New Year for the Trees.” A large group of women from across the County joined for an exciting evening of planting, learning, socializing and feasting.

Chana Burston, leader of the Jewish Women’s Circle, explained the Kabbalistic significance of celebrating Tu B’Shvat and partaking in the 7 grains and fruits that the land of Israel is blessed with, which include wheat, barley, pomegranate, fig, dates, grapes and olives.

All enjoyed a demo by local floral artist Janine Ford of Ever After Botanicals. Beautiful succulents were created using local black soil.

A lavish Tu B’Shvat grazing table boasted exotic fruits, salads and desserts. Elegant fruity Sangrias were enjoyed by all.
