Upon arriving from Israel at JFK airport, Rav Moshe Sofer, the Erlau Rebbe, was greeted by Chabad of the Airport. Rav Moshe Sofer is a sixth-generation direct descendant of the Chasam Sofer, whose father, the Erlau Rov Rav Yochanan Sofer Zt”l, the Rebbe held in high regard. He enthusiastically inquired regarding Chabad of the Airport’s many activities year round for the many travelers, under its Director Rabbi Yossi Rapp.
The Erlau Rov noted the Rebbe’s request to his father to pasken that Moshiach should come.
The Erlau Rov Davened Maariv and then heard the beginning of the Mamer Basi Legani recited after davening, as per the Rebbe’s directive from the letter of Yud Shevat 5711/1951.
Following the Mamer Basi Legani the Erlau Rov requested numerous Chabad niggunim be sung and spoke about the importance of this special day Yud Shevat.
The visit ended with the Erlau being presented with the recently published Sefer Chidushei Sugyos a compilation of the Rebbe’s Sugyos on Nigla divided by Parsha
