An arrest was made this week after a Las Vegas man made death threats to local Synagogues, spewing anti-Semitic hate over the phone this past Sunday.

“We were threatened this past Sunday by a troubled individual who spewed hatred towards us in particular and Jews as a whole,” Chabad of Southern Nevada posted to their social media. “We would like to thank Metro and the FBI for taking these threats seriously, and making sure we are safe. Thankfully within hours the perpetrator was taken into custody.”

According to reports, Michael Sanchez, 37, had called up local Synagogues, including Chabad of Southern Nevada, threatening to shoot up the shul. During the call, he allegedly also brought up the fatal shooting at Chabad of Poway and said that Jews are child molesters and rapists and they deserve to die, according to the report.

The call was made to the Chabad House Sunday morning, and the incident was immediately reported to the police. By Sunday evening, Sanchez was in police custody under suspicion of making a threat concerning an act of terror. The FBI and Counter Terrorism task force were also involved.

“Thank you to everyone who reached out. Thank G-d we are all safe and the synagogue/school is functioning and operating as normal,” wrote Rabbi Levi Harlig of Chabad of Southern Nevada. “Thankful to our local law enforcement and FBI agents for being on top of the situation and putting this man behind bars.”
