Thief and Nuisance Taken Off the Street After Stealing Food Order Tablet From Izzy’s
by CrownHeights.info
For nearly a month, a new face has been causing a nuisance to Crown Heights stores and residents, aggressively demanding Tzedaka from passersby and stealing items left unattended.
Good news for the community, he was placed under arrest Tuesday night.
The young man stepped over the line a couple days ago when he stole a tablet from Izzy’s Smokehouse used to accept Uber Eats orders. Surveillance footage from the store and provided to Crown Heights Shomrim shows the moment the thief stepped out of the stores restroom, checked to make sure no one was looking, and snatched the tablet from behind the counter.
Unfortunately for him, the owners of the store had filed a police report, and when the thief showed back up at the store Tuesday night, the restaurant staff were prepared. They called Crown Heights Shomrim.
The Shomrim volunteers responded to the store quickly, arriving while the thief was still at the store and unaware that his game was up. Keeping the situation calm, the volunteers got the thief to exit the store willfully, and kept him occupied and relaxed until the police arrived, and promptly placed him under arrest.
“He stole a tablet from a local restaurant, which they use to fill online orders,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote about the incident on Twitter. “Our vols responded quickly and were able to escort him out of the restaurant without incident, ensuring the safety of the patrons, and he was arrested by @NYPD71Pct
officers.”
