A Gerrer Chossid’s Miracle, and His Hakoras Hatov to the Rebbe

The following story was told by Chabad Shliach Rabbi Shully Leverton, which occurred just last night as he left the Kinus Hashluchim Banquet 5783.

Dear Chavayrim,

As I was leaving the banquet and walking to my car, I was approached by a poilishe chossid who asked if I could give him a ride to his car which he had parked about half a mile away outside of the parking lot.

As I was driving him I asked who he was. He said “My name is Mordechai, I am a chossid of Ger and I know many shluchim. However, I come to the Kinus to show Hakoras Hatoiv to the Rebbe for the brocha he gave me. Almost 3 years ago my wife endured a very difficult pregnancy. The doctors told us the baby wouldn’t survive and even if it did it would be severely handicapped and would live long. My father took me to many holy Jews for Brochas but as the pregnancy progressed the doctors told us they were now even more assured that their grim diagnosis was going to happen. My grandmother then confided to me that when she was pregnant with my father there were serious issues and she went to the Rebbe who gave her a brocha and all worked out. So she told me I too should now go to the Rebbe. My wife and I went to the Ohel. We davened and promised the Rebbe we would name our son Menachem Mendel. Boruch Hashem our son was born healthy and will soon have his opshernish. I asked Mordechai if he went back to the Ohel with his son. He said, of course, we go as a family every single Motzoa Shabbos. Besides for Yomtov, we haven’t missed even once.”

Ashraiynu. L’chaim!
