Chassidim Worldwide Mark 31 Years Since The Rebbe’s Final Call To Learn The Entire Torah Ohr/Lekkutei Torah

Project Likkutei Torah (PLT), a grassroots project dedicated toward facilitating the learning of Torah Ohr & Likkutei Torah celebrated their first siyum on the entire Likkutei Torah as part of their ‘DACH Yomi’ program.

“By learning a daf-a-day of Torah Ohr / Likkutei Torah plus one daf per week of Likkutei Torah Shir Hashirim, one can complete the entirety of the Chassidisher Parsha without hosafos on a non-leap year and with the hosafos on a leap year.” Says Rabbi Betzalel Bassman, PLT founder.

The Rebbe requested several times throughout the nesius that these works be learned (5715, 5723, 5725, 5732, 5746, and 5749). In 5752, the Rebbe said as follows at the kinus hashluchim parshas Chayei Sarah: “Similar to the Takona of learning and finishing Rambam in the course of the year—it’s k’dai and proper to learn and finish Torah Ohr & Likkutei Torah… ”.

“This hora’ah is all the more important considering the context of the famous sicha in 5752, making the learning of Torah Ohr / Likkutei Torah as part of our final Shlichus to prepare ourselves and the world to mekabel pnei moshiach…” opines Rabbi Yaakov Cahnman, PLT’s Executive Director.

“I think what is most amazing is that the Rebbe emphasised in 5715 and 5725 that learning Likkutei Torah is not just for chassidim, but for every Jew. By PLT creating the resources in the “daf-yomi” style, it creates a format in which every Jew can relate and connect.” Says Rabbi Mendy Cohen, PLT co-founder from Sacramento, CA

PLT now boasts 8 programs that are available to the public, among those including:

  1. 30-45 minute english overview classes on each daf
  2. 3-5 minute short summaries of each daf
  3. 30-45 minute english classes on LT Shir HaShirim
  4. Database and Web-portal of resources throughout the web on Likkutei Torah including detailed, text based shiurim and text pdfs from ChassidutBehirah.com navigable by daf
  5. 5-10 minute weekly Guided Hisbonenus / Meditation based on a concept from the Chassidisher Parha with Rabbi Dr. Laibl Wolf
  6. Weekly Blog
  7. Davening Takeaways
  8. Text-based learning
  9. And much more…

Future projects in the works include creating a 3-year cycle for learning the Chassidisher Parsha, reading and translating inside the text, as well as resources for Children to share by the shabbos table (see sefer hasichos 5749 page 41).
