Utah County Gets New Shluchim, 5th Shluchim To The State

Rabbi Chaim and Esty Zippel were appointed as the newest Chabad Shluchim to Utah, and will be establishing Chabad of Utah County.

Annually recognized as one of the youngest and fastest growing counties across the United States, Utah County plays home to a booming tech community, attracting startups and household names across the industry to the rapidly growing I-15 corridor. The Zippels will be settling in Lehi, just recently recognized by OpenDoor as “one of the hottest neighborhoods across the United States”.

Both Chaim and Esty have been extensively involved in outreach work and youth programming. Chaim, who was born and raised in nearby Salt Lake City, served as program director in schools in Pennsylvania and California, and Esty, born in Israel and raised in Crown Heights, has worked with at-risk youth in various capacities.

The Zippel’s focus will be to bring together and create a dynamic and warm community for the dozens of families sprinkled throughout Utah County. They will also be taking an active role in revamping Chabad’s acclaimed Project HEART’s activities in the area, providing a local resource to the hundreds of Jewish at-risk teens who walk through the doors of the nearby care facilities.

The Zippel’s were appointed by Rabbi Benny & Sharonne Zippel. They will be the 5th full-time couple representing Chabad across the State.

“We are honored to bring in Rabbi Chaim and Esty to join the growing family of Utah Shluchim,” said Rabbi Benny Zippel, Head Shliach of the State of Utah. “We feel privileged that Chabad of Utah County was one of the 1,200 Mosdos created to mark the Rebbe’s 120th birthday for Yud-Alef Nissan, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 30 years of the Rebbe having sent us to Utah this past spring.”

For the next 72 hours, they will be running a crowdfunding campaign to raise the $72,000 needed to launch their Shlichus.
