Tonight: Sara Deitsch, The Matriarch of The Deitsch Family’s 10th Yarzeit
This Monday, the 6th of Cheshvan, marks the tenth yarhzeit of Mrs. Sarah Deitsch, of New Haven, CT a matriarch of the Deitsch Family.
Together with her husband, Reb Dovid Deitsch, they both were loyal chassidim, great B’alei Tzedoka and involved in many mosdos.
One that stands out in particular was the Mossad Chinuch Oholei Torah, which the Rebbe requested that Reb Dovid partner with Reb Michoel Teitelbaum, founder of the yeshiva, and carry the responsibility of the mossad, as it grew from a small cheder, to the flagship school it is today.
In 1982, Reb Dovid wholeheartedly paid for the purchase of the Jewish Center building on Eastern Parkway, which became an anchor of the Oholei Torah Campus. It was said at that time, that this was a breakthrough for Lubavitch world over of owning such a prestigious property, one of the very first major buildings for the Rebbe’s institutions.
All this was done with the total support of Mrs. Deitsch, who often encouraged her husband to do even more than he originally planned.
Over the years, Reb Dovid and Sarah Deitsch were known as the Tatteh and Mammeh of Oholei Torah, a most endearing and befitting title for the founding partners of Oholei Torah.
