Torah Studies Program Expands on 18th Anniversary

Since its launch in 5764, the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute’s (JLI’s) Torah Studies program has grown into a powerful international network of weekly Torah learning. Each week, the lessons take thousands of students across the globe on an inspiring excursion through one of the Rebbe’s sichos, following the global Project Likutei Sichos learning schedule.

Founded by Rabbi Meir Hecht, the professionally produced curriculum with a textbook, and PowerPoint slides, maximizes engagement and empowers instructors to present profound ideas from the Rebbe’s Torah that students of all backgrounds can relate to. The curriculum has been continually fine-tuned to meet the needs of shluchim, rabbis and students throughout the years.

After thirty-plus years on “small-town” shlichus in Fresno, California, Rabbi Levi Zirkind piloted Torah Studies in his community last year. “I’ve always had a weekly parshah class. I was surprised by how much added value Torah Studies has brought.”  The program provides a framework and consistency within his busy schedule, ensuring the class is well-prepared. “I’m always sure to prepare the sichah bifnim, for a deep and clear understanding, but the Torah Studies manual adds interesting ways to improve my delivery and explain ideas.”

As Torah Studies turns eighteen, the curriculum development team at JLI is launching four new features to enhance the program’s teacher’s manuals. First, a clear “Before and After” table crystalizes each lesson’s shift in the student’s outlook and understanding. Second, each lesson’s discussion is tightly anchored in real-life applications of the ideas discussed.

Another new feature in 5783’s Torah Studies curriculum is a ready supply of jokes and stories liberally sprinkled throughout each lesson. There’s no better way to make a point than with an incisive anecdote, and an extra helping of humor helps students digest ideas. The final new feature helps students capture and retain each lesson with “Key Points” that summarize the week’s learning concisely.

The new features are the cherry on top of a package that already includes a full marketing package, PowerPoint presentations, and helpful guides to ease instructor preparation.

Registration for 5783 is now open, and the 31 percent early bird discount code, earlybird83, expires before Rosh Hashanah.
