Rabbi Sholom Leib Aisenbach, 84, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Sholom Leib Aisenbach OBM, a revered member of the Montreal Chabad community and father of a large Chabad family. He passed away on Shabbos Selichos, the 21st of Elul 5782.

He was 84 years old.

Born in the year ה’תש”ב to Rabbi Shimon Ben Tzion and Chana, Sholom learned in Yeshivas Toras Emes during his younger years before continuing on to Tomchei Temimim in Kfar Chabad.

During his time in Kfar Chabad, Sholom spent time teaching Chasidus and shiurim in Tanya .

In the year תשכ”ד, Sholom married his wife, Rivkah Raizel Gerlitzky, the daughter of Rabbi Eliyahu Gerlitzky the Shliach of the Frierdiker Rebbe in Montreal.

During the Sheva Brachos, the couple travelled to Eretz Yisroel where they held a Sheva Brachos in Tomchei Temimim in Kfar Chabad. The custom to hold one of the Sheva Brachos there began with this one.

Years later, he moved back to Montreal with his family, where he became a teacher in many Chabad Mosdos.

He is survived by wife and children; Mrs. Shterny Gruzman (Vienna, Austria), Mrs. Yaffie Simpson (Crown Heights), Rabbi Shimon Aisenbach (Toronto, Canada), Mrs. Leah Gansburg (Crown Heights), Mrs. Chaya Goldberg (Toronto, Canada), Rabbi Yosef Aisenbach (Litchfield, CT), Mendy Aisenbach (Toronto, Canada), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Levaya will take place Sunday, 22 Elul, 4:00 PM at Chesed Shel Emes then passing Yeshivah Montreal and Chaya Mushka Seminary on to the Lubavitch Cemetery, 5505 bas St. Francois, Duvernay, Quebec.

Shiva will take place through Motzei Shabbos. The Family Will Be Sitting at 6303 Trans Island Ave. Montreal, Quebec Shachris: 8:15 & 9:00 AM Minach/Maariv Zman. Rebbetzin Shternie Gruzman, will be sitting in Vienna Austria on Friday, 27 Elul at: Josefinen Gasse 2/8 | Vienna, Austria. Rabbi YY Eisenbach will be sitting Wednesday 25 Elul 6-9 PM at 69 West St. Litchfield – Thursday & Friday, 26/27 Elul at: 99 Crescent St. Waterbury, CT Shachris 8:30 AM, Mincha/Maariv Zman.
