New Tanya Course “To Believe or Not to Believe in Yourself: How to Achieve Self-Mastery”

How many people are lucky enough to wake up every morning, excited to face a new day at work? Those of us so fortuitously blessed to work at the Rosh Chodesh Society have been gifted this tremendous merit. We have the great fortune of interacting with the Rebbe’s shluchos from around the world—listening to, learning from, and trying to incorporate their wisdom and selflessness into what drives our mission: to connect, empower, and inspire Jewish women through the study of Torah.

In a yechidus, the Alter Rebbe told a formerly wealthy Chasid who complained about his lot, “You have told me everything that you need. But what you are needed for—of that you make no mention.”

So, to the greatest women in the world, shluchos of the Rebbe: While no one can ever quantify the vast goodness, kindness, endless giving, and holy humanity you bring to your communities and the world at large, we want to personally thank you for making our job a true labor of love. We witness firsthand—every day—that it is never about what you need. It is always about what you are needed for. ASHREICHEN! May you be the recipients of all the berachos in the world forever!

It is with humility, but great joy, that The Rosh Chodesh Society (RCS)—the women’s division of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI)—announces the release of its most groundbreaking course to date: TO BElieve OR NOT TO BElieve in YOURSELF: Achieving Self-Mastery

Facilitated by shluchos on every continent, this new course will introduce thousands of Jewish women across the world to the Tanya, the 225-year-old text whose portrayal of human psychology in general, and of our inner spiritual composition in particular, remains as revolutionary—and as refreshing—as ever.

TO BElieve OR NOT TO BElieve in YOURSELF will begin running in over 275 locations across the globe in early fall, 5783/2022. Through this seven-part series, women will come to understand the sources of guilt, conflict, and confusion, and they will find useful practical strategies for developing joy, purpose, direction, and perseverance in everyday life. The Tanya’s comprehensive, multifaceted system of self-betterment guides us to positive change to truly believe in ourselves and in our journey toward self-mastery.

“Tanya is the one-size-fits-all manual that has revolutionized the way we think about

G-d, the human soul, the world, and our place in it,” says RCS director, Mrs. Shaindy Jacobson. “We all yearn to be the best we can be and to believe in ourselves. The kabbalah-based tools Tanya presents help us understand ourselves in order to better regulate how we think and feel and, ultimately, to emerge victorious from life’s inner struggles.”

The course will be taught once per month for seven consecutive months and is designed for women at all levels of Jewish knowledge.

To BElieve OR NOT TO BElieve in YOURSELF grapples with our dual soul personality: the moments that we are disgusted by immorality and the moments that we are tempted by it; the days that we feel inspired by Judaism and the day that it seems irrelevant to us; and how employing the right thought, speech, or behavior is actually “close to you,” in that it’s not solely for the holy and lofty among us—rather, it’s possible for the average person to achieve. The course examines the struggles that can complicate this process of achievement: loss of motivation, lack of progress, and reversion to old habits among them,” says Mrs. Hindel Levitin, shluchah to Palm Beach, Florida, and RCS facilitator. “I invite you to join me, my sister shluchos, and many thousands of Jewish women across the globe on this remarkable, deeply impactful road of self-growth.”

The Rosh Chodesh Society is an international Jewish sisterhood that aims to connect, empower, and inspire Jewish women through monthly Jewish learning and cultural experiences, and we are supremely blessed with the most qualified, exemplary teachers: the Rebbe’s shluchos, who know exactly what they are needed for.
