Camp Hamidbar’s Farewell Banquet … Awesome!
Tzfas, Israel — “What? Rabbi, are you serious that it’s already the banquet! It seems like camp just started and it is already over! Wow! Camp was great! It was the best summer I ever had!”

This feedback actually came from most of the campers. Everyone left the banquet flying high. Can you imagine……the banquet lasted over six hours! The banquet was enriched by the fact that Hatomim Sholi Israel made a siyum on Mesheches Makos, Hatomim Meir Roetter made a siyum on Mesheches Chagiga and Hatomim Moishe Lieder said a Ma’amer Ba’al Peh.
A special presentation for the most improved camper of the summer was next – Eli Marks – you are terrific! There were presentations to the teachers and gifts were given to each and every camper. Next was the long awaited moment for the fourteen boys who were presented with their orange belts in Ninjetsu and to Zalmi Orimland who obtained his green belt – a job well done by all!
Head councilor Moishe Orimland presented Rabbi ‘O’ with a beautiful framed portrait of the boys at the Kosel. Many thanks to our camper Yosi Morgenstein for his expertise in photography and providing us with the picture.
Rabbi ‘O’ extended his heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff; Moishe Orimland, Shimmy Ash, Avrami Orimland, Moishe Hecht, Zalmi Orimland, Chezky Weisz and Yankey Shemtov. They were each presented with beautiful personalized gifts.
Memories of the camp started off when the boys first arrived to Tzfas and were treated to one of Rabbi ‘O’s famous bbq’s. The following six weeks of camp just flew by with outings to Har Arbel, swimming at the Kinneret, davening Shacharis at sunrise on the top of Masada, hiking at Ein Geidi and floating in Yam Hamelach. A beautiful Shabbos was spent in the Golan followed by kayaking and an intense martial arts course. Next was the incredible overnight jeeping, rapelling and then off to Yerushalayim where the boys were touched by Yad Vashem and by the Kosel Tunnels. Kever Rochel and Chevron were highlights of this trip where Hatomim Chaim Shimon Dubov was able to put on Tefillin on a Yid that had not put on Tefillin in over forty years! The Shabbos spent in the Old City of Yerushalayim with davening all tefillohs by the Kosel was very inspiring and moving. More activities of biking, paintball, rapelling, Rosh Hanikra and the massive Shabbos Mevorchim Chodesh Elul farbrengen topped it all off!
Rabbi ‘O’ encouraged the boys to take what they learnt in the summer and implement it the upcoming yeshiva year by being a leader and not a follower no matter if you are heading out or are staying on here in Tzfas at YNS.
