Last Minute Flight Cancelation Grounds Part of Trip to Almaty

A last minute flight cancelation has grounded the New York portion of the annual Almaty, Kazakhstan trip to Reb Leivik’s Kever, leaving many Anash and Shluchim unable to join.

“I am writing to inform you with the heaviest heart that due to an unforeseen mechanical, technical and an emergent situation, that is beyond our control, we have no choice but to let you all know our scheduled flight has been canceled,” the organizers of the trip wrote.

The trip, which drew many to the Kever for the Yartzeit of Reb Leivik, the Rebbe’s father, will still continue on with its Miami flight, which includes Shluchim from across South Florida. The Shluchim from South Florida will be holding their annual regional kinus there.

The organizers of the event shared their sorrow at the cancellation, and that they have not given up.

“We are working on an alternative plan, and we will let you know as soon as possible if we are able to rearrange,” they wrote. “Please accept our sincerest and most heartzik apologies for such short notice and any inconvenience this may have caused and for letting all of you Chassidim and the Rebbe and Reb Levik down.”

Should an alternative not work out, the organizers have said that they will return all funds as they have been paid.
