RECAP: Bonei Olam’s Second Annual Men’s Event
Over 600 men packed into Bison and Bourbon on Monday evening for Bonei Olam Crown Heights “Dreams Come True” fundraiser event, produced by Dovid Weinbaum of DW Events. The evening was a strong showing of support and solidarity for those in the Chabad community experiencing infertility and to raise critically needed funds for couples desperately seeking to build families of their own. Many new fathers attended the men-only event to personally thank Rabbi Bochner, the founder and director of Bonei Olam, for the support and resources they received in their efforts to become parents.
Rabbi Shais Taub spoke movingly about the direct impact these funds have on couples in Crown Heights as Bonei Olam Chabad’s funds directly benefit childless couples in our own community. The Bonei Olam Chabad branch works tirelessly to ensure that no Crown Heights couple is turned away from treatments that may help them have children due to a lack of funds.
Shulem Lemmer performed the emotional song Alein, written in honor of Bonei Olam’s holy work, followed by a heartfelt Kumzitz together with Eli Marcus. A highlight of the evening was a specially produced video of a couple who shared their miraculous story of triumph over infertility. Doctors had told the husband that he had a 0.00001 chance of fathering a child due to his male factor infertility. Yet thanks to Bonei Olam’s steadfast support and resources, the couple today has a healthy and happy two-year-old. In a tear jerking moment onstage, the father introduced his young toddler to Rabbi Bochner for the first time, thanking him for the gift of his son.

Over $350,000 was raised over the course of the evening, despite technical issues that made it difficult for donations to be processed through the website in the middle of the event. But many more funds are still needed so that Bonei Olam does not need to turn away couples in need.
