Whatsapp Group Learns Rebbe Rashab’s Chassidus
Do you feel like you should be learning more Chasidus but are not up to it? Maybe you do not have the time, or maybe you don’t have the tools you need to understand the words of the מאמר. Maybe you just want to add another learning project to your learning schedule. Whatever the reason is, an opportunity is available.
Every day a thought from the Rebbe Rashab‘s Mamarim is presented in clear and concise English. The short insights capsulize several pages of thoughts into short form for the reader’s benefit. The Rebbe Rashab is known as the Rambam of Chasidus because the מאמרים present Chasidus in just such a way. The group began with the Mamarim of תרנ”ה and is now going through the מאמרים of תרנ”ז.
Here’s an example of a recent thought.
”Joy, or delight, can sometimes be overwhelming. The whole body may get swept up with alacrity and jump up to dance it out, or at least snap along with the music. While the emotion may be overwhelming it is still not completely beyond expression. Sometimes, delight can get even more intense than that. A person may find himself shocked by great news, or overcome with pleasure. Without the capacity to express its intensity, for a moment he may find himself completely debilitated.
The כתר -crown, lies above all ten emanations. Although the כתר represents what should be inaccessible, there are two levels to that which lies beyond. There are surges of energy we can come to terms with, and there are others that really are above and beyond.
The Torah tells us that the scent of the sacrifices was a source of great gratification for Hashem. The offerings on the altar were primarily food based. Food is understandably gratifying. Sour or bitter foods are somehow enjoyable, because they are not pleasant on the palette. We come to terms with these flavors and learn to appreciate them, despite and because, they challenge our taste buds. This represents a state of כתר which we can still learn to appreciate. The holiest of services in the בית המקדש was the קטורת -incense. It was composed of poisonous spices which humans have no business consuming. These spices can only be appreciated through the delicate sense of smell. The scent of the burned קטורת would rise to levels of G-dliness beyond anything we have a right to reach, and draw it down anyway.
