Great Success for Russia’s Summer Camps

Thousand of Jewish children throughout Russia are currently enjoying their time at various summer camps. The camps provide a complete Jewish experience, with davening, learning, kosher food, memorable Shabbosim, and even the leisure time is packed with Jewish values, all thanks to the dedicated Rabbis, shluchim and staff in each city.

The camps are held under the name “Gan Yisroel”, which was chosen and established by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in the United States 66 years ago. The very first such camp was run by veteran shliach Rabbi Moshe Lazar, one of Italy’s esteemed Rabbis. His son, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar, brought this wonderful project to Russia, and this year expanded its activities in order to maximize the number of Jewish children who can attend.

In addition to the summer camps directed by CEO of the Ohr Avner Fund Rabbi Dovid Mondshine, there are also special summer retreats for the yeshiva students, where most hours of the day are spent learning Torah in the fresh air, far from the distractions of the city. About one hundred students from Moscow’s Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva Ketana traveled to the city of Nizhni Novgorod, where they are learning for six weeks at a spacious retreat, together with their dedicated teachers, headed by the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Moshe Lerman.
