How To Take Hebrew School to the Next Level

For some kids, Sunday mornings are filled with hours of TV in pajamas—but not kids who attend Chabad Hebrew Schools. These kids jump up before their alarm rings, excited to see their Jewish friends and teachers each week.

At hundreds of Chabad Hebrew Schools all over the world, thousands of kids are getting rich Jewish educations that no one thought possible decades ago. But even the most experienced and talented Hebrew School director needs support, inspiration, and constant professional development. That’s why CKids is hosting their first ever Hebrew School Summit, an all-day seminar to coach Chabad Hebrew School directors.

Organized by Doba Richler of CKids International the Hebrew School Summit will be taking place via Zoom on Chof Tammuz July 19 from 11:00 AM until 6:30 PM (EST), and will include a full day of robust workshops.

“We want to set shluchim up for success,” says Rabbi Zalmy Loewenthal, CKids director. “We work with veteran shluchim and shluchos who are implementing the most cutting edge educational theories into their schools—shouldn’t that be shared with others?”

This summit gives a chance for Hebrew School directors to network and exchange trade secrets with peers, as well as learn from a variety of top presenters, experts in their fields.

Offerings include “The Chabad Pyramid Approach” with Rabbi Mendy Schapiro. “Chanoch Lena’ar: Behavioral Success” with Dr. Hilary Buff, PsyD. “Hebrew Reading 101” with shluchos, Mrs. Chanshy Majesky, Mrs. Rochel Teldon and Mrs. Fruma Resnick, each who oversees hundreds of kids learning to read Hebrew. “The Ultimate Guide to Well Trained Staff” will be presented by Rabbi Zalmy Kudan, a veteran shliach who has also trained dozens of CGI counselors working at Chabad houses all over the world. “Making Your Small Hebrew School the Best in Town” will be directed toward small-town shluchos, presented by women with experience: Mrs. Mushkie Kesselman, Mrs. Chana Greene and Mrs. Bini Rivkin.

These are just a few of the workshops comprising the full day program that’s guaranteed to give Hebrew School directors a fresh take as they prepare for a new school year.

“Our Shluchos and Shluchim running Hebrew schools are truly on the front lines as they educate the next generation of Jewish leaders,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302. “We want to stand behind them one hundred percent.”
