Tel Avivian – You Deserve A Dollar From The Rebbe

Tel Aviv – In honor of the 28th anniversary of the passing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, this year, Central Chabad of Tel Aviv is initiating a new city-wide campaign: “Tel Avivian – You deserve a dollar from the Rebbe.”

In the course of the campaign, 185,000 Tel Aviv homes will receive a publication explaining the uniqueness of the dollar bills that the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory would distribute weekly, to all who sought his blessings. In addition, the publication explains the famous “10-Point Mitzvah Campaign,” which the Rebbe used to increase the awareness and observance of ten crucially important Torah commandments, such as Shabbat, kashrut and loving one’s fellow Jew. These commandments strengthen our nation’s faith and connection with the Creator and hasten the final redemption.

The campaign to encourage Tel Aviv residents to observe more mitzvot and good deeds was the brainchild of Rabbi Yosef Gerlitzky, the head representative of the Rebbe to Tel Aviv-Yafo, and the head of the city’s Chabad community.

The underlying principle of the campaign is based on Maimonides’ teaching that “the performance of a single commandment can tip a person, and the entire world, to the side of merit.”

R. Gerlitzky explains: “It’s possible that a single good deed or a single mitzvah is all that is needed to tip the scales and bring the final redemption. The Rebbe impressed this idea upon all Chabad rabbis worldwide, and it gives us encouragement until today.”

Rabbi Gerlitzky will be raffling off a one-dollar bill, which he personally received from the Rebbe. Residents of the “city that never stops” who commit themselves to observe at least one of the ten mitzvot of the campaign, will all take part in the raffle.
